Hair Loss in women

Hair loss in women is caused by almost similar conditions as in men. Even in women, absence of a proper hair care regimen, lack of nutrients in the body, or psychological stress play major roles behind hair loss. But, hormonal imbalance, due to production of androgens, and subsequently dihydrotestosterone (DHT), especially in the post-menopausal stage, can also cause hair loss. Women can suffer from female pattern baldness, quite similar to men. However, in women, the rate of hair fall is much lower than that in men. Telogen effluvium is another reason, in which some physically traumatic experience causes women to suffer from rapid hair fall. Pregnancy is one such experience. Besides, alopecia arieta is also prevalent among women.
